Many of you read the excellent article written by Editor Rob Darby
'Monochrome v Colours – A Side Study of Visual Impact' published last Friday - the 7th of March.
This announcement is an important addition or notice, addressed to all the 1x members.
Considering that Rob Darby's article could lead to misunderstandings concerning the submission to curation of different versions of one same image, which we absolutely want to avoid, here are the definite conclusions in agreement with the founders and the crew members.
* It is not allowed to upload and submit to curation an identical image in both colour and BW versions. There are no exceptions on this rule.
* Members have to make the choice before uploading and not submitting different versions which leads automatically to rejection.
* We understand that for some images such a decision can be difficult. Our suggestion would be to finish them both to the best of your knowledge and to compare them critically.
Of course, this is essentially based on each one's personal taste.
* Keep also in mind that re-uploads of rejected images are not allowed, unless a substantial change has been made to the rejected image.
To document this article, here are some great landscape- street- and conceptual shots.
But your definite choice is up to your own taste valid for all categories.

Mike Kreiten CREW If there was a bit more straightforwardness, especially in the curation process, it would be easier to accept the weak points it has.
I see three VERY similar images published within a less than a week, just recently:
https://gallery.1x.com/photo/2035601/
https://gallery.1x.com/photo/2035608/
https://gallery.1x.com/photo/2035610/
Obviously Margit Lisa did not stick to the rule to select first and this did not happen:
* Members have to make the choice before uploading and not submitting different versions which leads automatically to rejection.
And then we have a curator (Sorry Mikhail, I love your work), who got published with a b/w and a color version of the same photograph:
https://gallery.1x.com/photo/1430647/
https://gallery.1x.com/photo/1268767/
So this principle in curation also did not work well:
* It is not allowed to upload and submit to curation an identical image in both colour and BW versions. There are no exceptions on this rule.
If you have principles, Jef, make sure your team regards them. |
Ibrahim Nabeel PRO Thanks for clarifying some of the things we need to know!
He has already posted a color photo of me
Republished again several months later, monochrome, and approved!
Actually, I was working on a series of pictures and I wanted to make the tonne unified for all the series, and it was the mono image in the series
I also submitted 3 monochrome photos of color photos that were already posted, and they were rejected
I understand that very well
Thank you and my greetings to the team of curators...... |
