Stefan Buder's masters well architecture photography.  He loves playing with light and shadows, lines and shapes, symmetry and patterns.  But he also has wonderful landscapes and portraits in his portfolio. 
Open-minded for many genres, he continuously learns to improve his skills.

A boat trip on the river Thames, one of the first Fuji-X-cameras (with zoom), a British colleague and enthusiastic photographer – for me an initial ignition to photograph seriously.

Since 2011 up to these days I have tried to learn as much as possible. More and more I realized I am interested in light and shadows, lines and shapes, squares and rectangles, symmetry repetition and patterns and last but not least B+W.

As a civil engineer who lives and works in Berlin I am day by day in touch with architecture. Discovering a different view of the familiar, shapes and structures in nature and man-made excites me.

I love Berlin for its endless possibilities to discover new buildings, other perspectives or lighting scenes. That’s why I have always a camera with me. I think the best advice for a beginner in Architecture Photography is to go off and take pictures, learn from the best and use 1x.com as the platform to communicate with experienced photographers.

Today I´m using different cameras (analogue and digital) and prime lenses, Adobe Lightroom and the Nik Collection.

I carefully prepare the locations where I intend to photograph. Mostly I’m interested in the mood, but technical perfection is a basic requirement. My interest is to highlight the special features. In my opinion, long exposure photography is one way to realize that, so I quite often use ND-Filter to add new details.

How was it done? This question made me look it up. I’ve read books, I’ve seen tutorials, I have visited exhibitions and vernissages, photographed a lot and discussed with other photographers. And so I am constantly on the lookout and not only in Berlin.

My favourite photographers are Michael Kenna, known for his unusual B&W landscapes with exposures up to hours, Ralph Gibson – his new book “Sacred Land” impressed me deeply, Trent Parke, an innovative photographer, Elliott Erwitt with his immortal images of the 20^th century and author and photographer Michael Freeman.

In the future I would like to be open for many directions in photography, but my goal is to learn more about street and people photography.
